After working for SDGE for twenty plus years I decided to return to school. Two years at SDSU, one year of credentialing and I became a HS teacher. Eventually I ended up working for the California Department of Corrections as a teacher. After years learning the system and getting to know my inmate students the idea of writing a cook book came to mind. I would allow students to have "spreads" or potlucks. One inmate would bring beans another rice or tortillas and other things that they are allowed to purchase (all in my book).
Long story short, I decided to write my book.
It was published in 2016 under the pseudonym BIG PAPI. The name of my book is Cooking in The Big House.
